Dr. Gao obtained her Bachelor degree of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2003 from Liaoning University of TCM (China). She also received a Master degree(2006) and a Doctor degree (2013) in Clinical discipline of Chinese and Western integrated Medicine from the same university.

Dr. Gao has about 10 years of clinical experience at the China - Japan Friendship Hospital, which is a top class hospital located in Beijing, directly under the administration of the China National Health Commission. One characteristic of the hospital is that it has 2 medical systems - Western medicine and Chinese medicine. Dr. Gao is a physician who worked at TCM digestive system disease department. During those 10 years, she spent most of her time treating patients, while also supervising students and interns. As well she taught TCM Internal Medicine at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine.

Dr. Gao also has 6 years of TCM clinical and teaching experience in Canada. She opened the Gaomin Clinic in Regina, Saskatchewan in 2016 until she moved to Calgary in 2020. She sat on the board of the Provincial Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Association (PTCMAAS) between 2017 and 2019. She is currently teaching TCM formula and TCM Internal Medicine courses at the Canadian Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine (CITCM) in Calgary. She is also a supervisor of the Intern clinic at CITCM. Dr. Gao is a Registered Acupuncturist of the College of Acupuncturists of Alberta(CAA) and a full member of Alberta Association of Acupuncturists and Traditional Chinese Medical Doctors (AAATCMD).
